I'll tell you a story!

WWW
« on: September 19, 2012, 05:38:17 PM »

Just got the e-mail from the KOH volunteers organizer dudes wondering if anyone wants to volunteer this year.
I think we've pretty much decided to not do it this year as most of us are burnt out.

if you are interested please post up here.

Besides that..who's going out and planning on NOT volunteering?
I'm thinking about going out there on Wed again and staying through saturday, possibly sunday.

Let me know what you guys think

 cheers

That's not a dumb question at all.
Volunteers check in cars at check points, radio in car checkpoint times,  keep people off the track etc.. there is a lot that goes on and generally they assign a job to each group. About 4 years ago we ran the finish.line after running check points. These days it seems that most people end up patrolling the track keeping dumb people from getting killed.

The radios that are needed for the race need to transmit on ~151.000 mhz

Probably going to head out Tuesday-Thursday. Not going to stay for the race. Way to much going on. I want to wheel a little bit with the guys.

Cool...well since most of you guys are out for volunteering, maybe I'll just go and check this out.  Been wanting to.  I'll keep checking here to see if you guys get a group going out.

Myself and DaveP will be back out there this year.  My buddy Rich will also be there.  Bringing the 720 instead of the X this year.  Can't wait!

Looking at being in about the same place as last year. it seems to be a good compromise to being close to hammer town and being able to leave the crowd and get around without too much trouble.

I'll have to post GPS coordinates when we get out there.

Yup, Everyone here is heading out on tuesday. I plan on hitting the lakebed about 6PM

Also, we need a really tall flag pole.. does anyone have one? I've got a RR flag on the way that should help us find camp when we're out there.

Is it Tuesday yet?

We've changed our plans slightly - we'll be leaving here around 7pm on Monday.  That'll put us in Vegas around 6am and on the lakebed by late morning/early afternoon on Tuesday.  We'll probably just hang out and watch the LCQ until you all get there.  I'll have the radio on, so hit me up when you get there.
