320,000k miles, needs some attention. Real engine seal leaking. Belongs to my wife's cousin. Is it worth it? I'm thinking of picking it up as a vehicle to run to Home Depot with for stuff for our house and in 3 years could be a vehicle for my son to drive.

Hey oz, How bad is it leaking?
has it been rebuilt? and is it burning oil?

Basically what I'm getting at is, how much attention does it really NEED? There is a chance that is could be running fine and will be for a few more years.

I think it would be a good thing, esp if you boy's motivated to get something going.  If so, I say "he" buys it and you have the makings of a great father/son project and learning experience.

Plus, you can go to home depot.

I'd make sure it passes smog first.  But, you can always scrap it for $500 if you decide it's not worth putting money into.
