Finally get to work on it again!  Here's one way to get rid of that cheesy rubber intake tube:

how did you do that? I've been looking into it but can't seem to get rid of those vacuum hoses for the pcv system.

The only line I kept was the one for the Idle up valve.  I know it won't idle without it.  All the other lines aren't critical.  I hope it runs!

Thanks!

It's such an f'n cluster of hoses under the intake manifold.  I wouldn't know how to put it back if I tried.  Before pictures would have been smart. lol  I got rid of all those metal tubes and hoses and such.  You can see in the pic all that is left is the single hose running under the intake from the throttle body to the Idle up valve, which is bolted to the underside of the intake manifold towards the rear.

Yeah I know. Did that engine have a pcv system? Because I think that was my problem. I tried to plug all the right vacuum hoses but it still ran like it had an open vacuum and started burning oil. Sounded like a stroker so I put everything back. Have you fired it up yet?

Yeah, I don't know.  I hope to have it running soon.  I still need to make the exhaust and run the wiring.

Made some catch cans for the water and fuel:

Got to see this thing this weekend, that's one awesome buggy being built...and it was great to meet you.

Also good to see Steve and Oz again, it's definitely been far too long.

Not quite yet.  Just a bunch of stuff to do, mount the shifter, gas pedal, throttle cable, brake lines, skid plates, add another seat, fix coolant leak, ect.  But, at least the engine runs!
