Probably the yellow post sites in the Heartbar campground.  They are larger than those right near Big Bear lake and there are several next to each other so we can grab more than one.  It's first come first served and it's free.  To guarantee a spot someone would need to get up there on Friday by early afternoon.

yeah someone should really go grab a few sites.
Don't forget you need Forrest adventure passes to camp at Yellow Post Sites. ($5 / Day at the ranger station)
Also, I've been looking on 'n off for BLM land that is closer to big bear. Maybe along 3N14 where we can camp wherever we want and still be close to the BB trail system.

As far as trails go, I was thinking Motino wash. but it's not really near anything else.
a Really Really GOOD  Cheesy day would be Dishpan Springs -> Holcomb Creek -> John  Bull (backwards) -> Jacoby Cyn or Gold Mtn. -> 20 min road back to camp.

AND... With any kind of luck we can do it in under 24 Hours   Grin cover  cover  cover  cover

I might try and join you guys.

Heartbar would be the easiest to get a trailer/multiple rigs in, up past the horse trailer area, but then it's a bit of a drive to JB.  There is a big yellow post on the forest side above the village that would work, plus it's got shade.  Actually, depending on how many folks go, I can think of another one that's way shaded and could work with a trailer given some minor finagling.

Don't remember the numbers, but can check.  If I do go I could probably go up early and snag a spot, but won't know until next week.

If you're driving way out here let's take it to the Hammers.   It'll be more fun and camping wouldn't be a problem.  Jason will bring out his Jeep buggy, too

Do you need your tow vehicle while camping?  You could always leave that truck and trailer on a residential street near the trail entrance.

a few of the guys on thenewx may rent a cabin or house by the lake , so we may go in on that since it would be $50 a night per room for a 4bdr

I'm good with camping at the yellow post sites.
 cheers
They are all very close to each other or we can get a paid site that will accommodate more people. it's like $20 per site and 2 vehicles and $5 per each additional vehicles... or something like that.

I'd really like to camp. I'd pitch in for the big camp site or just go to a yellow post.
