maybe some place up the 5 to run miller jeep trail.. in a way it's similar to the crown king trail in AZ. I've only run it once and it was a good time.

but if we're doing it in CA i'd like to go more north to try to get more of the nor cal wheelers in with us but i also don't want the drive to be much longer than the drive to J.V. for the AZ guys.

I was just flipping through the Nor. Cal backroads book (relax, I was looking at the southern part of it :] ) and i'm thinking that Area 8 would be cool which is near Fresno. this is where swamp lake and a few other lakes are.  I've been ITCHING to get up to that area. but the drive may be a little far for the AZ guys.

Area 9 which is near lake Isabella looks like it has lots of cool stuff as well.
For WCM i think my vote is for Lake Isabella.

I definitely want to get to Colorado for wheeling.  I have some concerns though for WCM.  It could be a huge draw since it's a more central location and it could cause problems with having trail leaders and general liability issues if the event gets too big.

I've heard great things about Lake Isabella.

Other closer options for the AZ people might be Vegas, Borrego, southern AZ, eastern AZ, Calico, Joshua Tree, Bradshaw trail, Mojave trail.

I'm not too stoked on Calico although I'd go if that's where it's held.  Joshua, Bradshaw and Mojave are more expedition type trails.  Not rock crawling.

Just a thought but what about the jawbone/calcity/ransburg area.  There are some interesting things up there.  Jawbone is the gateway to the southeastern sierras with trails that go all the way to lake Isabella.  Calcity/ransburg would get us into Last Chance Canyon and on up to burro Shmitt(sp) tunnel. It wouldn't be to hard to get to for the norcal guys, the could come down the 58 over the Tehachapi pass and end up pretty much hitting all of those areas.

Again just a thought.  Some will not like it do to the dirt bikes and stuff in that area.

The area that Dom is talking about is the same area that i was talking about that's listed as area 9 in the Nor Cal Book. Is the southern-isn part of kern county / Kennedy meadows area. I haven't been there since i was little but I'd really like to go there.

I guess creek needs to be talked to, to see if the CO WCM still holds true.

I realize that WCM isn't my event and it's not my call on what happens. I just hope for my opinion to be heard.

True.  I guess the other question is if Aaron wants to organize it this year or pass the torch to someone else.  Maybe Creek if it's going to be in CO.  I probably shouldn't have assumed.

you guys can put this up for discussion on the forums
i feel that whatever state we have it in , members of that state should have the responsibilty of trail runs , camping spots etc  Thumb-Up

the other thing we should probably change is the name

There's a good list on dirtopia here http://www.dirtopia.com/wiki/Nevada  I haven't clicked on all of the links but most are pretty easy looking.

This one looks more challenging.  Makes me nervous to do a trail with this description that none of us have done before but if that Chevy in the photo can do it I'm sure most of our moderately upgraded vehicles can make it.  http://www.dirtopia.com/wiki/Devil_Peak

Not worried about you Steven and Aaron.  Thumb-Up

lets get a list together and make a poll on the board. I'll send out a newsletter as well as a blog post including a link to the poll . That way we can do it in a place where the majority of the people can go and will want to go.
