Title: doin a titan swap
Post by: penski61 on June 10, 2008, 10:16:56 PM
well i had the stuff sitting in the garage for a while , wasnt sure if i wanted to do it cause the extended axles are
$560 , well i talked to an offroad shop and they said quite a few people have cut the axle in half and sleeved them with a piece of chromoly , well since i had an extra set of shafts i decided to give it a go , worked out pretty well just got to do the other side then get tie rod extensions and longer brake lines , ill probably get tc uca or prg uca later down the road , but money is tight

kept the frontier spindle , but you can replace the spindle with a titan spindle to get the 6 on 5 or whatever the bolt  pattern is gained another 2" of down travel but havent tested up travel yet

looks good man

let us know how the trail test goes.

I do have a ? though... would one be able to take titan outters front and rear to convert fron the 6-on-funky bolt pattern to 6-on-5.5 from the titan?

yeah you could do it 2 diff ways , upfront u have really one option
use a titan spindle
rear switch to a titan rear axle , or buy adapters
i already had the adapter for the regular lug pattern and to keep the track width the same as the front youll need the adapters , only thing i dont get to keep are my steelies cause they will be sticking out way to far in the front , so no adapter in the front and adapter in the back

Very Cool Penski.  I can't wait to see how this works out on the trail.  Just as I thought I may be starting to catch up just a little, you leave me in the dust again... haha.  Which is very cool might I add.

Thats so cool, looks like there is way more down travel do to the fact that the UCA's are no longer hitting the spring bucket.

they still hit the coil bucket but due to the diff length of the frontier and titan uca that is the reason for more down travel
but had to switch back to nismo rims , and my gosh steelies are alot heavier

Hey Penski, Are you happy with your DIY extended axles or would you suggest PRG/SAW? How much exactly did you extend them??

extending them was a temporary thing that last a few weeks , i have the ext axle shafts from prg and havent had any issues with them
