You need to have google earth. Download that and you should be able to open the file.

I clicked it and it was there, this file "4x4_trails.kmz". I meant to say google earth above, I think I tired importing it and it didn't do anything.

Hmm i've updated them on my computer since i've posted this as well but i need to clean it up a bit. there is some that stuff that is really redundant. I'll work on that.
but you should be able to import it into the my places list on the left side and then hide or show the layers at will...

I have to get one I guess, at some point, my phone has google maps but it isn't good w/o a phone signal!
.......I'll bet that program is PC only.....I'm Mac.

there must be apps out there for the mac as well..
even if you can open up the files in a text editors, it shouldn't be hard to do it manually. the faormat is pretty straight forward.

I know you set up to overlays for the KMZ. But was are the sources for those maps. Sure wouldn't mind having physical copies of those out on the trail.

The maps are from a few sources. Mainly the USFS maps from the ranger station.
