 Title: Re: where to tap for Hydro assist Post by: SteeevO on May 29, 2012, 07:21:07 PM So i totally understand where most people tap the box but when I tore mine down I figured why not tap into both veins on the same side of the box keeping both lines out of harms way?
Is there a reason people haven't tapped into it this way before? The short vein goes back 5/8" of an inch but I don't see any reason why it can't be drilled a little deeper if needed. Without drilling it deeper and drilling the 7/16" hole for 1/4" NPT tap as far away as possible from the edge of the box, you'll have a min of 3/16" of material left between the hole and the edge of the box but technically since it's only 1/4" id pipe you can drill as far away as leaving 3/8" of an inch of material without restricting the flow. I thought I remembered seeing him post up on the AZ board about this w/pics on where he drilled. I only remember this as it's on my list for someday.
Title: Re: where to tap for Hydro assist Post by: penski61 on May 29, 2012, 08:12:31 PM their boxes are a little different than the box ive got
1st gen box (http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z219/penski61/P5044979.jpg) (http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z219/penski61/P5044980.jpg) Title: Re: where to tap for Hydro assist Post by: penski61 on May 29, 2012, 08:38:21 PM so it looks like the hardbody boxes have 2 veins to tap into where the 1st gen has the one vein and uses the reservoir in the box as the return
Title: Re: where to tap for Hydro assist Post by: SteeevO on May 29, 2012, 08:50:13 PM that's interesting.
So, how does the fluid get to the res. section of the box from the valve in the first place? Does anyone have a picture of the valve section of of the box? or a pic of the box complete? I think i'm going to drill and tap it like I originally pictured, on both veins. We'll see how it goes. Title: Re: where to tap for Hydro assist Post by: penski61 on May 29, 2012, 09:53:08 PM im sure you will be fine with that style box , but for the 1st gens id recommend on doin it the way i pictured
